You can query name servers for information on hosts and domains.

nslookup yahoo.com.

nslookup has two modes: normal and interactive. If you type nslookup without a domain, and hit enter, it goes into interactive mode. In this mode, nslookup displays a prompt: >

In interactive mode, you can set the query type for an nslookup:

Any queries made will relate to (mx) mail servers.
